At 9 a.m. on Friday, New York Fashion Week will be quiet. Clothes will be waiting backstage. Editors will be checking their phones, models will be sitting in hair and makeup chairs, and cars will already be moving through Manhattan, but no show will begin on the official schedule.
The absence is deliberate.
