Rēine Godard and I bonded right away when she told me she was a chef and restaurateur at a point in her life. Her period in the kitchen began with her family in the East Coast in Virginia when they immigrated from Vietnam. Godard, however, felt lost in life and looked at culinary activity as second nature rather than her true calling. Therefore, she packed her bags and flew out to Los Angeles to pursue modeling.
“While I was growing up, I would see models on television and thought it was such a glamorous job,” she said. “It was great and then I found out it wasn’t as easy as everyone thought it was.”
Throughout this time, Godard went to a load of casting calls and met with different directors where she received rejections here and there. She became insecure and felt destroyed deep inside. Therefore, she took a break.
“I started very young when I didn’t have much guidance and would just go home and think about the reasons I got rejected,” said Godard. “It’s like a demon that just eats you alive and then you get depressed about it.”
Nowadays, she overcame this challenge and is confident more than anyone can ever imagine. Fast forward to 2012 and Godard became a blogger. She began her platform as a “mom blogger” as she is a single mother to a four year old little girl named Lauren. She named the platform The Code of Style. The Code of Style has been the result of Godard’s wide-ranging experience working with brands. Throughout her blog’s beginning stages, Godard shared her take on motherhood to inspire all mothers alike.
“During my pregnancy and going through my divorce and everything, I asked myself, ‘what is life about’, then it just dawned on me that I wanted to take on blogging full force,” she said. “From there, I was very dedicated and I would write and do shoots and was on social media for 24 hours a day.”
Godard never got an ounce of sleep during the start of her blogging career. She took control of her life and did not let her divorce bring her down. Throughout this whole process, Godard was also discovering who she was, which was why she also delved into beauty and fashion since they were always near and dear to her heart.
“The whole point of The Code of Style is to encourage women to be the best version of themselves and to rise above any obstacle that is in their way."
Currently, you can find information on Godard’s fashion finds and beauty favorites on the blog as well. Although she is still a big time fashion and mommy blogger, Godard has her head up high and is looking forward to the future. She is planning on writing a children’s book and starting a foundation.
“The foundation I plan to launch will provide an education for children from ages zero to five,” she said. “The education center would be open from 7 am to 11 pm so parents can pursue their dreams without any interruption or concerns that their children are at home with a nanny all day.”
Godard knows what it feels like to be a single parent. It can be complicated if a parent has to work long hours due to bills compiling, especially if you don’t have any sort of assistance from anyone else. By having to work long hours, these single parents may have to leave their child with a nanny or babysitter who probably won’t provide them with the education they need. Therefore, Godard believes her up and coming foundation would make a difference in these single parents and children’s lives. She hopes to fulfill this goal in five years, and if not, the foundation will be her lifetime goal.
“The formula to success in anything you do is dedication, having a game plan, and executing,” said Godard. “You can achieve anything you put your mind to….it’s an equal opportunity.”
